Maclear to just past Mount Fletcher

Mr Willows (well actually the weather) allowed us to sleep in until 6am today. We probably would've frozen if we began the day any earlier, as it was 5 degrees at that time. We woke up slowly, enjoyed hot oats for breakfast and set off at 7:30am. The little children from the school giving us a smiley goodbye.

It started of as a freezing morning but the sun peeked through the clouds, warming up the girls slightly. The route was spectacular, made up of kilometers of rolling hills. No matter how far we looked, they never seemed to end.

The girls coped really well, considering the continual uphills and downhills, finishing 76km in 6hrs 30min.
On our ride we were welcomed by John Alport who brought refreshing Coke, mini Woolworths burgers, an assortment of chocolates and biltong. The girls deeply appreciated this 'spoil'!

The 'spoils' continued as we arrived at the Alport's. We were served delicious butternut soup with mealie bread for lunch and dinner was a feast with vegetables, beef skewers and chicken breasts. Our evening was finished off with ice cream eaten in front of the fire. We are so relieved that we get to spend tomorrow night here as well - hopefully more home ' spoils' in store!
